The Gospel in our lives - Col. 3:5-11

Is Christ's atonement sufficient and complete? Does it have the power to transform lives and make anew? If you observed the day to day lives of most Christians today you would have serious doubts and that is the very reason the Gospel has lost its appeal and appears powerless in our age. Why do we settle for a partial atonement? We want the forgiveness of sins but we don't want to give up our old selves. The atonement is sufficient, its work is complete, the Gospel is powerful, but we must reckon it in our lives and put to death the old self for it to be effective in creating the new self which is from God, through Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Only then will the world see a Christian who is worthy of their attention and will cause them to take notice.

Things above, Life below - Col. 3:1-4

With all the pressures we have in this life I find it difficult to keep my mind on things above when so many other things are trying to snatch its attention. I would love nothing better than to spend my days in wonderful bliss before God with nothing to divert my attention from my pursuit of Him but that is not our reality nor the reality He desires for us. He did not place us in this world to try and hide or escape its troubles. He came and brought salvation so we would have a means to rejoice in this worlds tribulations and look ahead to the blessings of eternity. He wants us to live, work, and press on by faith and the power of His Spirit so we can be a testimony and example to others in this world of How great a God we have. Is that what the world sees or do they see just another bunch of grumblers?

It's God's way or no way - 1 John 5:1-13

So many today want to claim a belief in God or a higher power but they refuse to believe in the son Jesus Christ. Why is it so hard to accept that God sent His son into the world to pay the price for our sins? For many it is because they do not think there is anything that needs to be paid. They have no guilt concerning their sin or at least they ignore it. They are quite content to go on living as they have been and doing what they are doing as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, but still they want to acknowledge belief in a god for everything they don't understand and to cover the bases in case they are wrong. But God does not accept us on these terms, if we love Him we will keep His commandments. Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God can know God and be known by Him, It is the only way!
